ask the electorate a simple yes and no question, where both outcomes will leave many dissatisfied, and be sure to split the vote of those who disagree with you, so that you end up winning with the naysayers.
scottish independence*. only 29% of the scottish electorate is believed to support it, yet 68% would like to see devolution max - greater powers for the devolved parliament. certainly if it meant tory twats** like cameron (who, let us remember, doesn’t get very many votes north of border) had less of a say in the running of our country, then i’d be all for it. then we might get asked some more pertinent questions that might actually lead to some sort of democratic debate/result..
